Santiago Ponzinibbio looks to get back in the win column against one of the UFC’s most exciting prospects.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between Ponzinibbio and the undefeated Miguel Baeza will take place at the UFC’s event on June 5 in a location yet to be announced. Combate was first to report the booking.

While on an impressive seven-fight winning streak, Ponzinibbio was forced out of action for over two years after suffering a bacterial infection, which led to multiple surgeries. “Gente Boa” returned in January at UFC Fight Island 7 and was stopped by Li Jingliang in the first round. The 34-year-old is 9-3 in his UFC career as he looks to take a step towards a return to the top-15 at 170 pounds.

Baeza (10-0) is set to make his fourth octagon appearance and has jumped off the page since earning a decision win on Dana White’s Contender Series in June 2019. “Caramel Thunder” has finished all three of his UFC bouts in the second round in victories over Hector Aldana, Matt Brown and Takashi Sato.
