The UFC is bringing a packed card to its return to Vegas next weekend.
Officials have announced the updated lineup for UFC Vegas 18, which takes place at UFC APEX in Las Vegas on Feb. 6. The main event features heavyweight contenders Alistair Overeem (47-18, 1 NC) and Alexander Volkov (32-8), with a bantamweight bout between Cory Sandhagen (13-2) and Frankie Edgar (24-8-1) serving as the co-headliner.
Overeem once again finds himself enjoying consecutive wins as he competes in his fifth straight UFC main event. The one-time UFC heavyweight title challenger has won four of his last five fights, including knockouts of Augusto Sakai, Walt Harris, Aleksei Oleinik, and Sergey Pavlovich.
Volkov is coming off of a second-round TKO over Harris at UFC 254 in October. He has alternated wins and losses in his past five outings.
Sandhagen recently rebounded from his first UFC loss by taking out top contender Marlon Moraes at UFC Fight Island 5. He has won six of his first seven UFC appearances.
This will be Edgar’s second UFC fight at 135 pounds. A former lightweight champion and featherweight title challenger, Edgar made a successful bantamweight debut in August with a split decision win over Pedro Munhoz.
One late change to the card sees Youssef Zalal stepping in as a replacement for Contender Series signee Collin Anglin to face Seungwoo Choi in a featherweight bout. The new matchup was first reported by MMA DNA. No official reason was given for Anglin’s withdrawal.
