JP Buys will make his octagon debut alongside his wife next month.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Buys will take on Bruno Silva in a flyweight matchup on March 20. MMA DNA was first to report the booking.
The event is expected to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
Buys enters his first promotional bout on the heels of a five-fight finish streak. “Young Savage” began his impressive run after a second-round TKO loss to Joby Sanchez on Dana White’s Contender Series in August 2017. The Fortis MMA standout got his second DWCS opportunity this past November and submitted Jacob Silva in the first round to earn a contract.
He will join his wife Cheyanne Buys—who also earned a contract on the 2020 Contender Series season—on the card as she faces Kay Hansen.
Silva will be looking for his first UFC win in four tries. The 30-year-old was stopped by Khalid Taha at UFC 243—which has since been overturned to a no contest after Taha was suspended following a positive drug test—and was on the wrong side of decision losses to David Dvorak and Tagir Ulanbekov.
The UFC’s March 20 event will be headlined by a middleweight matchup between Derek Brunson and Kevin Holland.
