A featherweight showdown is being targeted for the octagon in May.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between Damon Jackson and T.J. Laramie is in the works for the UFC’s event on May 1 in a location and venue yet to be determined. MMA Empire was first to report the bout.

After going 0-1-1 with one no contest in his first stint with the UFC, Jackson compiled an 8-2 record in the LFA to earn another opportunity to compete inside the octagon. “The Leech” made the most of his moment by submitting Mirsad Bektic in the third round at UFC Vegas 11 in September. Jackson will look to get back in the win column in his first 2021 appearance following a first-round TKO loss to Ilia Topuria in December at UFC Vegas 16.

Laramie earned his contract after an impressive doctor’s stoppage TKO win on Dana White’s Contender Series in August. The Canadian prospect made his octagon debut riding a four-fight winning streak and was submitted by Darrick Minner in just 52 seconds at September’s UFC Vegas 11 event.
